I've been experimenting with the Apricot logs that I have in the past few months. So far, I have rough turned some long grain bowls as well as natural edge, both were placed for 3 months "kiln" drying. After that period of time, I have returned some of the stock and here are my conclusions:
- The Apricot is great wood to work with, especially when wet
- When dried, it become too brittle, a slight catch and the wood shattered (see the photo below)
- When drys, long grain bowl goes complete oval
- The best way is natural edge. It holds it's shape, easy to hollow and I better have it right the first time otherwise, I can not return it
